The Panasonic Toughbook CF 20 is mostly built up of slots that can accommodate a wide range of modules, from RFID readers to Blu-ray discs. Simply detach and replace them with a new module. The front edge of the laptop has a carrying handle. The Toughbook CF 20 is somewhat hefty, weighing in at over 4 pounds, yet it's manageable to carry by the handle.
Elegant Display●
The
Panasonic Toughbook CF 20 display, which is built for outside viewing, is one
of its greatest features.
●
The
device I tested has the updated full HD (1,920-by-1,080-pixel) panel, which has
a brightness rating of 1,000 nits.
●
Most
of the brightest consumer laptop screens have a brightness of roughly 500 nits.
Keyboard and Touchpad
●
When
using the keyboard and touchpad using bare fingers, we found them to be
significantly more pleasant than their Toughbook 31 counterparts.
●
Touchpads
on many tough computers are meant to be used with a stylus or gloved hands, and
therefore don't work as well with bare fingers.
●
But
the way the touchpad is designed on the Panasonic Toughpad CF 20, the
sensitivity was phenomenal.
Capacitive Touch Support
●
The
capacitive touch panel on the Panasonic CF 20 is significantly more accurate
than other Toughbook’s resistive touch panels.
Built-In Stylus Holder
When you're not using it, the built-in passive digital stylus slips
into a handy slot on the right side.
This makes it easier to run in high-demand work conditions and adds a
level of organization to the equipment's operation.
The rugged Magnesium-Alloy case
MIL-STD 810G certification for vibration resistance and operation at
severe altitudes and temperatures has been granted to the silver
magnesium-alloy casing.
Face Recognition, and Shutter settings
●
There's
a privacy shutter on the webcam, as well as infrared sensors on the Panasonic
CF 20 for Windows Hello facial recognition.
●
The
webcam's 1080p resolution is particularly appealing, as the 720p webcams
featured on most consumer laptops produce blurry footage under indoor lighting
circumstances.
SSD
●
The
SSD module is positioned on the bottom of the Toughbook 55 in its own
dedicated, easily accessible compartment
●
You
can store the SSD separately as it is detachable. This provides a level of
flexibility in use of SSD on the Panasonic Toughbook CF 20.
Right side ports
A headphone jack, a micro SD card slot, USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A and Type-C
connectors, an Ethernet jack, and the power connector are all found on the
right edge of the device.
Rear Ports
●
The
rear offers another USB Type-A port and HDMI output. These ports are hidden
behind the protective cases.
●
The
Panasonic Toughbook CF 20 provides industry-grade protection through the use of
magnesium alloy casing to all the sensitive parts of the computer.
Second Battery Optional
●
The
primary battery and optical drive/GPU bay take up the whole left edge, hence
there are no connectors there.
Graphics unit
●
An
AMD Radeon Pro GPU is available as an add-on module from Panasonic.
